Your Excellency Mr. President of the Republic,I have the honour of respectfully addressing Your Excellency regarding a concern that directly affects the daily life of the Burundian population and the functioning of our economy: the availability of fuel in the country.
Fuel has become an essential commodity for the transport of people and goods, agriculture, commercial activities, public services, businesses as well as the operation of many sectors of our economy. Any prolonged disruption of its supply leads to significant consequences for prices, the mobility of the population, market supplies and household incomes.
Your Excellency Mr. President,
In this context, I would humbly ask you to deploy every possible diplomatic, economic, logistical and administrative means in order to guarantee the regular delivery of fuel to Burundi, notably by seeking all supply routes and all regional and international partners likely to contribute to resolving this situation.
It would also be important to consider, as far as possible, mechanisms to diversify sources and supply corridors so that the country can hold sufficient reserves and reduce its vulnerability to potential future disruptions.
Our population needs to be able to move, work, produce and trade under normal conditions. Farmers must be able to transport their harvests, traders to supply the markets, pupils and workers to travel, and businesses to continue their activities.
I am convinced that with the commitment of national institutions, cooperation with neighbouring countries and the mobilisation of regional and international partners, solutions can be found to ensure Burundi a stable and sustainable supply of fuel.
I therefore beg you, Your Excellency Mr. President, to kindly consider this matter as an urgent national priority, in the interest of the population and of the country’s economic stability.
Please accept, Your Excellency Mr. President of the Republic, the expression of my highest consideration.
